In life, there is a ruler.
Measure oneself and others with a ruler in one's heart; Measuring with a ruler inside one's body can result in loss of measurement.
A person's life is a process of constantly adjusting their inner scale.
Throughout your life, do not be limited by your perspective, do not be bound by rules, and be a person with a "scale" in your heart.
1. Speak in moderation
What is moderate speaking?
Don't say things you're not sure about easily; Don't speak recklessly about things that haven't happened; Don't casually say things you can't do.
More importantly, don't belittle things you don't like or opinions you don't agree with.
We learn to speak in three years, but it takes a lifetime to learn to shut up.
Socrates was very good at public speaking and his profession was to teach people how to speak. A young man came to seek advice and explained how important speeches are.
After waiting for him for half a day, Socrates demanded double tuition fees from him, and the young man asked why.
Socrates said, "Because besides teaching you how to speak, I also need to teach you how not to speak
The saying goes, "A benevolent person's words are also true
Speaking with sincerity is essential for self-cultivation, grasping the balance between words and actions, and assessing the situation accordingly.
This is respect for others and wisdom in life.
2. Be generous with others
A magnanimous person is able to care for, help, and be considerate of others, with strict and lenient responsibilities.
Confucius demanded of himself throughout his life, 'Do not be me', which means not being too arrogant and indulging in oneself.
It is common for people to easily see the faults of others, but not their own mistakes.
A self righteous person, once they catch someone's small mistake, will make a big fuss and even curse out loud.
Always consider exposing others' shortcomings and embarrassing behavior in person as one's own frankness.
Having a genuine temperament is good, but the prerequisite is to understand respect and understanding.
Being lenient towards others is not only a liberation for others, but also a redemption for oneself.
When you hear rumors and gossip, don't mind. The best explanation is to smile calmly;
Being slandered by others, don't get angry, ignore it, is the best way to counterattack.
Being strict with oneself and having a tolerant heart towards others in interpersonal relationships is the highest level of personal charm.
3. There is a warmth in my heart
Throughout one's life, through ups and downs, whether happy or sad, love or hate, there is always an unchanging temperature in one's heart.
A person with warmth in their actions will bring sunshine to others' lives, and their own life will also be filled with warmth as a result.
A smile is free, but it is more precious than anything else.
A person with a passionate heart has the ability to perceive and manage happiness, understand the difficulties of life, and still smile and love life, spreading warmth to those around them.
Mencius said, "Those who love others will always love them; those who respect others will always respect them
Life is like a mirror, when you smile at it, it presents a smiling face to you. People with warmth in their hearts will also be treated gently by others.
The best way to be a person is to:
Be decisive and warm in doing things, and be gentle and principled in being a person.
A person with warmth has a longer-term vision, a broader mind, and is not bound by short-term gains and losses. As a result, the road becomes wider and life becomes smoother.
In 'Caigen Tan', it is said:
Let a person have a reputation in front of them, not as if there is no destruction behind them; let a person have initial pleasure in friendship, not as if there is no lasting disgust
And the secret to all of this is to be a person with limits in everything.
Grasp the balance of being a person and the scale of doing things. Over time, the height of life will be accumulated in every inch.
